Anode Meters
C-Born anode rod-drop meters measure the voltage drop across anode rods to determine anode current — the fundamental measurement for balancing current distribution and optimising pot performance.
Every meter is designed, built, programmed, and supported by C-Born, and our meters are in service at more than ten smelters on four continents.
Smart Anode Meter
Automatic Rod-Drop Measurement
The Smart Anode Meter replaces the analog technology used in potrooms for decades. The operator pushes the probe tips against the anode rod — the meter does everything else: it samples continuously, accepts a reading only when six successive values agree within 0.5mV, and stores the result against the measurement schedule. No reading, no writing, no transcription errors.
A Full Round, Start to Finish
Connect the meter by USB to charge it and download the day's measurement schedule. In the potroom, the head-mounted LEDs tell the operator everything at a glance — green for a good reading, red for an incomplete one, red-and-green for an abnormal value needing review. Back at the dock, readings upload automatically to your database for analysis.
- ✓Half-second readings — a full pot line measured in a fraction of the time
- ✓No transcription: results go straight from meter to database
- ✓Site-configurable firmware adapted to your pots and schedules
- ✓WiFi on the main board — upload without the USB dock
- ✓Inductorless power design for operation in potroom magnetic fields
An earlier-generation meter in use in the potroom.
Engraved for Your Site
Front and back panels are laser engraved and customisable per site — plant name, fleet number, service date — permanently marked. No labels to peel off in the potroom.
Simple Anode Meter
Lightweight Pot Rod Meter
An earlier-generation Simple Anode Meter.
The Simple Anode Meter is the rugged, no-fuss option: a measurement head, connecting shaft, handle, and meter box. It measures the voltage drop over a fixed length of the anode bar on a 200mV meter range — read directly from the meter, with nothing to configure.
- ✓Lightweight construction minimises back strain and arm fatigue
- ✓Handle and shaft geometry keeps operators away from heat — no reaching into measurement areas
- ✓Custom configurations available on request
Physical
A 1 m long, 15 mm square shaft, with probe tip spacing of 95 mm or 100 mm. Other configurations can be made to suit your cell design.
Which Meter Suits Your Potroom?
Choose the Smart Anode Meter if you measure to a schedule and want readings in your database with zero manual handling — it pays for itself in operator time and eliminated transcription errors.
Choose the Simple Anode Meter where a rugged, low-cost, direct-reading instrument fits your operation.
Many sites run both. Either way, you get the same manufacturer-direct support — from the company that designed and built your instrument.
